Shay cared for the people around him naturally, without waiting for them to ask and without making a big deal out of it. His giving stemmed from genuine concern and an understanding that this is how you build a strong team. For example, when one of the soldiers on the team got stuck with a task and couldn’t make progress, Shay didn’t wait for him to ask for help. He simply sat down next to him and said with a smile:“Come on, let’s see you defeat me while I try to figure this out.”
